- Swelling of limbs
It can even get as extreme as focal hemorrhages, neurological issues and necrosis of extremities. Symptoms start 2 days -2 weeks after infection. Antibiotics are needed to clear up infection and if not treated quickly prognosis will become less favorable. Both dogs and people can get infected from a tick.
It is caused by an organisms which are similar to bacteria. It is usually carried by the brown dog tick. It was first found it in military dogs in Vietnam.
- Swollen Lymph Nodes
- Respiratory distress
- Weight Loss
- Bleeding Problems
It can be difficult to diagnosis and usually takes 2-3 weeks to develop. Dogs can develop anemia so treatment for that plus antibiotics are effective. Dog to human transmission is impossible but humans can get the disease directly from the tick.
